We are pleased to launch Growing the Movement, the 2025/2026 report of the Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway, highlighting another year of progress in equipping coaches to create safer, more positive and inclusive sporting experiences for girls.
Now in its second cycle, the Pathway continues to grow through a network of Implementing Partners, Regional Trainers and Local Trainers working across different countries and communities. The programme trained 1,282 coaches from 75 countries, through 55 workshops delivered with the support of 11 Implementing Partners and four Regional Trainers.
But the Pathway's work does not end when a workshop finishes. Since completing their training, Pathway-trained coaches have gone on to engage more than 63,000 beneficiaries, including over 41,700 girls and women, putting their learning into practice in their own coaching environments.
From training to practice
Beyond the numbers, the report explores what coaches have learned and how they are applying the Pathway's principles in their day-to-day work.
Post-training feedback showed that 94% of coaches felt prepared to apply what they had learned. Follow-up findings also indicated that 93% had put Pathway strategies into practice, while 88% reported observing positive changes in the experiences of girls and women they coached.
These findings offer encouraging signs of how the Pathway is helping coaches rethink their approaches, from creating safer environments and supporting body confidence to encouraging girls' participation and retention in sport.
One Pathway, many local approaches
A central part of the report is the work of the Pathway's Implementing Partners and trainers, who have adapted the programme to different sporting and community contexts.
Through their experiences, stories and reflections, the report offers a closer look at how the Pathway is being delivered locally, the challenges coaches continue to face and the lessons that can help strengthen future implementation.
The journey continues
With the 2026–2027 cycle already underway and another cycle planned for 2027–2028, TAFISA and its partners are continuing to build on the progress made so far.
The next chapter will focus not only on expanding access to the training, but also on strengthening its application and better understanding the longer-term changes it brings to coaching practices and girls' sporting experiences.
TAFISA extends its sincere thanks to Nike for its continued support of the Pathway, as well as to all Implementing Partners, Regional Trainers, Local Trainers and coaches whose dedication and commitment continue to bring the programme to life in communities around the world.
